Students and family numbers
Review school records before importing. Student and family identifiers keep their leading zeros. Adult pickup permissions are reviewed separately.

Import school records
Download the CSV template. Use up to 500 rows per batch, saved as UTF-8. Columns can appear in any order using the template names. For students without a family number, leave both family_number and child_suffix empty. Use one row per student/family association.
Which columns can my file have?
| Column | Required | Example | Rule |
|---|---|---|---|
| school_student_id | Yes | 000418 | Keeps leading zeros. Used to match students. |
| first_name | Yes | Maya | |
| last_name | Yes | Okafor | |
| family_number | Yes (may be blank) | 1800 | Leave blank with child_suffix when there is no family number. |
| child_suffix | Yes (may be blank) | 01 | |
| grade New | No | 2 | Up to 20 characters. |
| homeroom New | No | 102 | Code or name of a room in Classes & rooms. |
| staging_location New | No | Gym | Where the child waits every day. Blank means their homeroom. |
Files with only the first five columns still work. If you leave out grade, homeroom or staging_location, those details stay as they are. An empty cell in an included column clears it. Rooms are never created by an import; add them in Classes & rooms first.

Review this import
Existing students not listed in this file remain unchanged. This import cannot reactivate students or reassign existing family tags; those changes need a separate school review.
